In the province of Cosenza, in the Upper Ionian Cosentino, the unmistakable beauty of the sea (several times) Blue Flag) and the small beaches of Roseto Capo Spulico fascinate visitors. The name Roseto comes from the Latino Rosetum: here in fact, roses were cultivated that incredibly grew even in the harsh months. We arrived in the car with a group of friends for the weekend. After traveling the Sinnica state road, surrounded by a splendid mountain panorama, we walked along the crystal clear Calabrian sea along the highway 106 in the direction Reggio Calabria. In recent years, the amount of hotel facilities has grown considerably.

The hotels in the area guarantee an extremely diverse tourist offer: hotels from 1 to 4 stars, Bed & Breakfast, holiday homes, residences, guest houses, camping and holiday parks. After unpacking our suitcases, we walked on the Lungomare Degli Achei in the hamlet Marina di Roseto to get to the Castrum Petrae Roseti (Castello della Pietra di Roseto). The medieval castle overlooking the sea, considered a place of cultural interest at national level, in the Norman era marked the border of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Recently restored, it works as a restaurant and conference room.

Of great interest is the Ethnographic Museum, among the most important in Calabria with over 2000 pieces exhibited an indelible sign of a genuine past. It is mandatory to stop in the pitches to buy the typical Rosetano Pepper: very spicy spice used to enrich the already tasty typical cuisine. Noteworthy are the local fish dishes, the green soup and the delicious “Cannaricùli” desserts: fried savory biscuits, ideal accompaniment to a good accompaniment glass of wine. Roseto Capo Spulico: enchanting sea and blue sky that meet in a dreamy panoramic horizon.
