Fall in love in Vico del Gargano, the village of love

Known as the village of love, Vico del Gargano, one of Italy's many and most beautiful borgos (which are little towns which were built right outside the walls of a city), is in the Province of Foggia which is located in the region of Apulia and is part of the Parco Nazionale del Gargano, an impressive and magnificent national park.

In Vico del Gargano you will find a great mixture of nature, amazing gastronomy, great beaches, history and culture, which makes it the ideal destination for your next holidays, especially if you are planning on traveling in the summer, right on time to enjoy the hot Italian weather and everything it will give you the chance to do. This town of about eight thousand inhabitants looks like a postcard from outside, and that is because all the houses seem to be painted all over the hill which overlooks the crystalline water of the beach which surrounds it.

The first thing you must do when you get to Vico del Gargano is, without a doubt, going for a walk around the medieval historical center of the village, with its all buildings and typical little shops where you will find a wide variety of handmade products as well as homemade dishes which will give you a real taste of what traditional Italian food is really like.
But if you want to visit the center of the borgo during the best time of the day, do yourself a favor and do it at night. The lights will illuminate the walls of the town, giving it an extremely romantic and mysterious look.

Also, if you are traveling with your other half, pay a visit to the Vicolo del Bacio, and extremely narrow street, just about fifty centimeters wide, where you will be so close you won't be able to do anything else but kiss, that is why it's appropriately called Street of the Kiss. And, being an Italian town, there had to be at least a couple of churches for tourists to visit. In Vico del Gargano you will find the Carmine church, from the 17th century, and the Matrice church, from the same century, where you will find not one but eleven baroque altars.

But if as well as visiting great places you are hoping to be able to relax a bit while getting sun-kissed, don't miss the chance to spend some time on the beaches which surround Vico del Gargano. There are two beaches in particular, the San Menaio and Calenella beaches, which are known as some of the most beautiful beaches of Apulia. These beaches are private, which means you will have to pay a fee to get in, but in exchange you will get an umbrella and a beach chair to relax as much as possible and enjoy the crystalline waters and the warm Italian sun while hoping you could stay there forever.
