Salve is an Italian holiday resort situated in Lecce province at the very base of the heel of Italy's boot-shaped appearance on maps. Tourism is a major source of income in the area, but to date this area has been a little known vacation destination that's become popular with Italians alone. Visitors to Apulia (Puglia) will be excited by the wild, mountainous scenery and isolated, sandy beaches and coves. The bright whitewashed houses, local olive groves and fruit orchards combine to create a landscape that predominate in the area are indications of its agricultural heritage. Many local buildings are built in trullo style with a coned roof, with the Alberobello area being particularly famed for this reason. A Mediterranean climate in the Salve area, means winter temperatures don't tend to drop below zero, while peak summer temperatures can reach up to 35 degrees C or more. August is the hottest month of the year in the area. Salve is close to some of the most lovely white sand beaches which complete the deepest-toned azure seawaters to the full. Lecce is close by, and this is a Baroque treasure that has to be visited by anybody in the region. The Lecce architecture is a renowned complement to Florence. The dramatic coastline and chalk cliffs of the region are hauntingly beautiful and visitors will find a variety of marine activities in Salve and throughout the region.
