A few kilometers from Alberobello, Castellana Grotte and Polignano a Mare there is another interesting Apulian town, Putignano. The hills covered by vineyards and olive groves surround it, among which there are numerous trulli scattered throughout the territory.

The historic center of the town has preserved the typical medieval structure characterized by narrow and winding streets where they open close to the homes, the so-called “courts”, spaces typical of the architecture of the Mediterranean area bordered by iron or wooden doors.

However, a real fame, not only in Puglia, but throughout Italy, owes Putignano to his Carnival. It is one of the most famous carnivals, but also the longest, because it starts on 26 December and continues until Monday and Shrove Tuesday. The months of preparation culminate with four parades of papier-mache floats and masked groups including the mask of Farinella, a jester similar in the amp; #39; I look forward to Arlequin and that owes its name to the famous dish, that is, a flour-of chickpeas and toasted barley.

Wandering through the streets of Putignano you will certainly notice the presence of numerous craft shops with wedding dresses. It is another feature of the town where a large part of the Apulian women going to get married.
