Scanno is a located in the province of L'Aquila of the Abruzzo region in Central Italy. This town of alleys and narrow streets is found in Sagittario Valley that is encircled by Majella Mountains. Scanno is the home to Abruzzo's largest basin in which you have the town's natural lake. According to local legend it has been created due to a feud between a white witch and a sorcerer. The lake is located in the place where the witch fell. During the Second World War the ex-President of Italy lived in the town as a refugee for a short period.
