Loreto Aprutino is a town located in the Pescara province of the Abruzzo region in Central Italy. There has been a Roman city by the name of Laurentum where this city is located today. It has got the name Laurentum because there were lots of Laurel trees around the area. The present day town got developed around a Benedictian Abbey during the 11th century.
When one views the present day Loreto Aprutino he will see this city among the hills of South Western Pescara. The former medieval castle of Palazzo Chiola still stands out majestically among the old buildings. The church of San Piestro Apostolo with its bell tower hides a lot of artistic treasures for a visitor to discover along with its history.
With lots of olive trees around, the area is well known for the production of olive oil. The patron saint of the place being San Zopito the traditional feast centered on this saint also is there for the visitor to participate if he is there on the right time.
