Walls, towers and gates Torre Rossa The Red Tower or Torre di San Secondo dates back to the 1st century BC. The tower was built in two different periods, in the Roman period and in the eleventh century around the 11th century. Walls, towers and gates Torre Trojana The Troyana tower overlooks Piazza Medici and is considered one of the most impressive medieval towers, perfectly accomplished and best preserved in Piedmont. Built by the Cortesi family between the end of the twelfth and the beginning of the 13th century, in 1250 it became the property of the Troia, who demolished the adjoining Palazzo Cortesi to build their new home, keeping intact the tower. Inside, a 199 steps staircase allows the visitor to reach the floor of the battlements. The recently restored Troyana tower is open to the public.
