Walls, towers and gates Torre di San Vito The Tower was built in the 17th century at the behest of the monks in the area, with the aim of spotting and protecting from possible attacks the Abbey that was in the immediate vicinity. Today the area adjacent to the building, is one of the most popular beaches in all of Puglia.
Walls, towers and gates Arco Marchesale The Marquis Arch or Porta Grande was built during the renovation of the city walls of Polignano in 1530. It was the only access road to the village and the urban structure of the city. There was also a drawbridge placed outside the door whose holes are still visible. The arch was structured with a barrel vault in which there was also a canvas depicting the Crucifixion of Christ.
