Bolzano - Streets and Squares Piazza delle Erbe Piazza delle Erbe is located in the historic center of Bolzano. It was built in 1277 when Count Mainardo II brought down the doors and walls of the city and established a narrow and long square that became the economic center of the city. Fruit, vegetables and poultry are sold in it and in the center of the square there is the Fountain of Neptune, which the Bolzanini call “innkeeper with a fork”, which was erected in 1777 and replaced the previous pillory public for peasants.
