Parks and nature reserves Lombardy

It is one of the largest parks in Europe and belongs to the land of the Villa Reale. Perfect for walking, biking or horseback, it is a place of recreation for the city. Inside there is the Autodromo, the Formula 1 circuit

The Park covers almost the entire southern slope of Valtellina with an altitude between 2000-3000m. The woods are different like deciduous and chestnut groves at lower altitudes and classic needles at just higher altitudes up to the alpine prairies rich in typical flora and in summer “crowded” of herds in the mountain pastures where the most delicious cheeses in Valtellina are born. As for the fauna, we can say that it is typical Alpine: deer, roe deer, ibex and also the populations of tetraonids, such as the Capercock, not surprisingly the symbol of the Park.

The Adamello Park is located in the center of the southern Rhaetian Alps, and contains the whole Lombard side of the Adamello group. It extends for 51,000 hectares, from Passo del Tonale to Crocedomini. The reserve is the bridge to the Trentino Adamello Park and the Stelvio Park. The different chains are separated by mountains, peaks and ridges.

The Romanesque degli Almenno Park is an itinerary of great artistic and cultural interest that crosses the territory of Almenno San Bartolomeo and Almenno San Salvatore. The territory houses four churches, jewels of Romanesque and post-Romanesque architecture: the Church of S. Tommaso in Lemine, the Parish Church of Madonna del Castello, the Church of S. Giorgio and S. Maria della Consolation.

The Orobie Bergamasche Park is a mountain forest park that, with an area of about 70,000 hectares, represents the largest area with high naturalness among the Lombardy regional parks. The park consists of impressive mountain reliefs and is the realm of eagles, ibex and breathtaking views.

The Stelvio National Park, founded in 1935, is the largest in Europe and covers the territory of four provinces. Thanks to its extension, each visitor can find an itinerary or a nature trail in tune with their preferences.

The Oasis Torbiere of Albate-Bassone which is located in the southern part of Como, is a natural reserve of 90 hectares. It consists of three areas: forests, meadows and marshes. There are a hundred species of birds: red woodpeckers, doves, pigeons among the most prevalent. Rarely there are nests for species of passage such as hawks, cranes and sparrows. It is possible to visit this area thanks to a natural route with huts of exploration. This oasis is managed by the WWF which defines "area with a particularly rare ecosystem."

The Botanical Garden of Pavia is part of the University of the same city and was formed by Fulgenzio Witman. Its current location dates back to 1700. The vegetable garden is rich in numerous collections. The attractions of the botanical garden are wild and ancient roses, azaleas and beautiful varieties of plants.

The Mincio Park is a natural and protected area located in the province of Mantua. It extends along the Mincio Valley and from Lake Garda to the confluence with the river Po. To observe the magnificent beauty of the place and book a visit, you can connect to the website of the Park itself.

The Botanical Garden is located inside Palazzo Brera. It was created in 1774 at the behest of the Empress Maria Theresa of Austria. Today it is managed by the University of Milan. We can admire more than 300 different species of plants and a particular 18th-century tank where irises and water lilies grow.

Villa Finzi was built in the nineteenth century by the Hungarian Count Batthyàny. In the 20th century, it passed ownership to Fanny Finzi Ottolenghi, who transformed it into a home for disabled children. He maintained this function for many years, collaborating with the Gaetano Pini Orthopaedic Institute. Today, under the ownership of the Municipality, it has become a public park.

The Rock Engravings Park was established in 1978 thanks to the donation of medieval lands by the Marquise Marquise Pallavicino Mossi Visconti Venosa. Its purpose is to enhance the history of the rocks engraved over the centuries. Since 1990, the Consortium of the Park of Grosio has been promoting excavation campaigns on the bump of the Castles.

The Scianno Wildlife Center is located a few kilometers from the town of Isolaccia. The purpose of its realization is to collect wounded animals and abandoned puppies in such a way that they can cure and protect them. After a period of care, the animals are returned to their natural habitat.

The Pian di Spagna and Lake Mezzola Nature Reserve is a natural environment that was invaded during the 16th and 18th centuries by the Spaniards. The area consists of lakes, rivers, beaches etc. The environment, rich in a wide variety of flora and fauna, offers the opportunity for all nature lovers to take interesting walks.

The Garden was named after its founder, the famous Trebbo Trebbi. The agronomist, from his great passion for nature, had the garden built right in his home. Being a good researcher, he enriched this green space with numerous specimens (about 1200) of different species. Over the years, the space was expanded to get to take on current appearances, which present a great teaching material and also aesthetic. The garden is open for all interested parties.

The oasis is a wooded area with an area of ??about 7 hectares where near the river Nirone. It is managed only by volunteers.

The Fosso del Ronchetto is an environment that offers the opportunity to immerse oneself in the world of nature. We can admire you not only the centuries-old trees but also birds such as red peaks, greens, allocchi etc. the whole area is surrounded by small wetlands fed by rainwater.

The Bosco Villoresi Oasis was founded in 1993, in a degraded area, with the collaboration between the Municipality of Carugate and the WWF. Over an area of 10,000 square meters, different types of orchards were planted, in wooded areas. The reason is to restore an environment of native trees that describe what was the Po Valley many centuries ago.

The Oasis of Bine was created in the second half of 1700, to protect the swamp (the dead Oglio area) that is isolated from the river by a rectification intervention. It is located on a site of community importance and in a special protection zone, in the Oglio Sud Regional Park. It covers 144 hectares on a horseshoe shape.

The Oasis of the Ponds covers about 24 hectares. At the center there is a structure that allows visitors to deepen their knowledge of the surrounding landscape. This contains a teaching room, observation points, educational ponds and it is also possible to walk the reed and the woods by motor vehicles.

It is located in a valley, reachable with a 20-minute walk, where the encounter between man and landscape seems to have just occurred. It has more than 80 species from all over the world, and can be visited freely all year round.

The Fontanili Park was discovered during an event of “WWF Oasis Day”. The environment has an area of 15 hectares in which we can admire a great variety of flora and trees, among which are distinguished plants belonging to native species typical of the area.
