Chiavenna - Museums

Galleria Storica Civici Pompieri della Valchiavenna

The museum collects and exhibits artifacts of firefighting origin present from the beginning. The material was ordered to offer visitors the opportunity to evaluate the technical evolution of the various fire-fighting and rescue equipment during the first half of the 1900s. Among the exhibited pieces is the "MERA 3" hand pump, complete with transport wagon, supplied to the Chiavenna Fire Brigade from 1883 to the second post-war period, fortunately found in 1989 during a fire in a farmhouse. In addition to some accessories and service uniforms, the parade helmet of the Civic Firemen of Chiavenna (1889) is preserved. To recreate the atmosphere of the time, a typical peripheral service center was also set up, such as that of Chiavenna around the end of the 1930s. The Historical Gallery is completed by documents, photographs and relics, kindly made available by the local population. Finally, the Historical Gallery houses an impressive collection of fire vehicle models, self-built in 1:14 scale by a firefighter from Chiavenna. The collection, which currently consists of about 100 pieces.

Pavia - Museums

Musei Civici del Castello Visconteo

The Civic Museums of Pavia are located at the Visconti Castle. The museum structure includes different sections: archaeological, Lombard, Romanesque and Renaissance, modern sculpture and Gipsotheque. The Visconti Castle houses the Pinacoteca Malaspina, the Art Gallery of the '600-'700, the Quadreria of the 1800s and the Morone Collection. In addition, they are part of the civic museums, the Museum of the Risorgimento and the L. Robecchi Bricchetti Museum.

Parco Archeologico-Botanico del Paradiso e Museo Archeologico della Valchiavenna

The botanical-archaeological park of Paradiso is made up of two hills, the "Paradiso" and the "Castellaccio", which are located on the eastern edge of Chiavenna in a magnificent panoramic position, both over the city and the surrounding area. The two hills, separated by the deep crack of the "Caurga" (ancient Roman ollàre stone quarry), are connected by a daring walkway and crossed by a dense network of well-equipped paths that allow an easy visit and ascent to the most high. There are numerous attractions that justify a visit, in fact on the two cliffs there are concentrated: singular environmental, geological and landscape aspects, botanical varieties of flowers and plants, with rare species and exotic vegetation; various archaeological and historical remains such as the ruins of the old walls and the fortress; artistic and architectural artefacts in soapstone, flooring in "botòn" (scraps of soapstone turning). Inside the Torrione there is the naturalistic section of the Valchiavenna Museum in which geo-mineralogical and faunal installations are presented that illustrate the natural environment of the valley. In the building at the entrance to the ollàre stone quarry, it is possible to find the Archaeological Museum of Valchiavenna on the first floor. During the visit to the rooms it is possible to "walk" in the millennial history of Chiavenna and its Valley. We are accompanied along the path by didactic panels, reconstructive drawings of scenarios and landscapes and, above all, the finds, objects that directly from the past are able to tell us about the life, work and beliefs of those who lived in these places over the centuries.

Chiavenna - Museums

Mulino Moro di Bottonera

The mill of the former Moro pasta factory is located in Bottonera, the artisan district of Chiavenna, built in the 19th century in the upper part of the village and represents an important work of industrial archeology. It was Carlo Moro who gave life to the pasta factory. The foundation dates back to 1868, although as early as 1851 the Chiavenna Chamber of Commerce reported the presence of a "non-sweet pasta factory", known as "wheat mill and pasta factory" in 1890. The complex has come down to us almost intact. The mill was in operation day and night and the work, distributed over three shifts, was coordinated by a chief miller who, with a team of workers, supervised the operation of the machines and the loading into the bags of processing products: flour, bran, flour and half grains.

Brescia - Museums

Musei Civici: Museo Romano

The Roman Museum, located in the ancient Capitolium, was opened in 1998. Located in an area of great archaeological importance, the structure presents a vast teaching material for the history of the area. You can admire and study closely the typical Roman dwelling in addition to the noble residences of the Middle Ages, the ancient temple (I century AD) and many other structures of ancient origins. Currently, the Museum is closed for reasons related to a renovation.

Almenno San Bartolomeo - Museums

Museo del Falegname "T. Sana"

The Carpenter Museum was inaugurated on 20 June 1987 within the company complex. Its founder was Tino Sana, who wanted to tell the story of his trade. The history of the carpenter is narrated with the shops that present the various crafts of woodworking, with vintage equipment and machinery built of wood and with lathes from 1600, 1700 and 1800. The museum also contains a rich exhibition of bicycles, such as the wooden ones of the 800-900, as well as jerseys and trophies by Felice Gimondi, a former Italian road cyclist and sports director to whom the salon.

Varese - Museums

Villa Mirabello

The construction of the building began in the 18th century and takes its name from the hill where it is located. It has an English-style garden that preserves very rare trees such as the centuries-old cedar of Lebanon. Today it is home to the Civic Museum of Varese. Inside the archaeological museum you can observe the ``mummy of the museums of Varese ``, still under study, taken care of by the Institute of Anatomy and Pathological Histology of the University of Pisa. Among the findings of the culture of Golasecca can be noted the tomb of the Warrior of Sesto Calende.

Cremona - Museums

Museo Civico "Ala Ponzone"

The Civic Museum is located at Palazzo Affaitati, built in the '500 in the city center. The Museum reserves sculptures and parts of frescoes from the 15th century. In the local painting gallery of the 16th century you can admire works that testify to the transit to the new Renaissance form. The 'San Domenico' room houses the works of the '600. In the other rooms you can also admire collections of elements belonging to the application arts. In the second floor, there are works from the second half of the 19th century until the 20th century.

Mantova - Museums

Museo Storico dei Vigili del Fuoco

The historical museum of the fire brigade located in Mantua, whose access is located at the entrance of the Piazza Arche, houses all the vehicles (including nautical and amphibians) brought to the restoration by the firefighters themselves during the hours free. The historical museum can be visited on Saturday and Sunday and on public holidays from 9:30am to 12:30pm and from 2:30pm to 7:30pm. For the visit of schools and groups of visitors, the other days of the week are always and only with reservation.

Museo Archeologico Nazionale

The National Archaeological Museum is located in the former Cocoon Market in Piazza Castello and is undergoing restoration since it must be adapted to the future needs of the museum itself. It is arranged in three floors that interest, the prehistoric era until the early Middle Ages and, part is dedicated entirely to Mantua. Walking along the ground floor, tourists can observe various materials recovered during archaeological excavations carried out in the city.

Museo Civico di Storia Naturale

The Civic Museum of Natural History in Milan was established in 1838, at the behest of the naturalist Giuseppe De Cristoforis. It is one of the most important naturalistic museums in Europe. The Museum is located in three rooms covering Italian environments, parks and nature reserves. The Museum presents an exhibition of Natural History dedicated to zoology and the main natural environments. In 1986, an African archaeology study center was also created inside the museum.

Museo del Giocattolo e del Bambino

More than two thousand pieces are exhibited in the windows at child height of this museum. But more than quantity, it is the quality of the objects on display that are chosen with extreme care and that are arranged in such a way as to develop a story and stimulate the imagination of children. The toys on display date back to the 18th century until the 20th century. Of great importance are also the educational workshops where children have the opportunity to build a toy.

Museo di Arte Paolo Pini

The Paolo Pini Art Museum is located inside the former Paolo Pini Psychiatric Hospital in Milan. A museum is dedicated to contemporary art, it was created in 1993 by Teresa Melorio, Enza Baccei and the Department of Mental Health of the Niguarda Ca 'Granda Hospital. It was opened to the public in 1995, and exhibits the ideas of professional artists and people suffering from psychic distress. Inside the Museum we find a collection of international level that houses the works of over 140 artists.

Civico Museo Insubrico di Storia Naturale

Collections of minerals and fossils are exhibited in the museum. There are about 6,700 finds, including minerals and fossils of fish, vegetables, crustaceans, reptiles found. The three specimens of Lariosaurus Valceresii and the Cave Bear dating back about 215 million years ago are also very important. In addition, there are also two other sections with 700 taxidermised animals from locally sourced and a photographic archive of 8000 slides.

The Diocesan Museum of the Intelvi Valley collects important documents and finds from the Val d'Intelvi. The Museum is structured in several sections: sculpture, goldsmith, painting, books, fabrics, drawings, religious events, prints, furniture, archival documents, work tools; literature, photography and newspapers. Among the most precious works is the ancient Cross-style, dating back to the Romanesque era, as well as the splendid statuettes of olive wood, the work of the great sculptor Ercole Ferrata from Pellia.

Mandello del Lario - Museums

Museo del Motociclo MOTO GUZZI

In Mandello del Lario there is one of the most interesting museums for fans of two wheels, the Motoguzzi museum. Located inside the factories where the production of the legendary 'Guzzi' began, it houses about 150 specimens including series motorcycles, sports bikes, experimental prototypes and engines. All exposed in a time path, testifying to the timeless all-Italian myth of two wheels that appreciates throughout the world.
