Museo Nazionale della Magna Grecia

The National Museum of Magna Grecia is in possession of one of the most remarkable collection of artifacts from Magna Grecia. The collections include materials found from excavations in some regions of southern Italy such as Sicily, Calabria and Basilicata. There are numerous famous works that can be seen in the museum, such as the Riace Bronzes, the Head of the Philosopher and the collections of pinakes, terracotta votive pictures.

Museo di Arte Sacra

The Museum of Sacred Art, also known as' Valentianum ', is located inside the church of Sant'Antonio Abate, which dates back to 1455. The Museum was established in 1988, to collect and preserve the ecclesiastical heritage. In the rooms of the museum we can admire works from all over the Vibonese territory. The collection offers an excellent opportunity to learn more about the ecclesiastical heritage of the area.

Museo Archeologico Statale "V. Capialbi"

The State Archaeological Museum “V. Capialbi” displays, in chronological order, the finds excavated in the necropolis of Vibo Valentia. There are votive objects from the sanctuary of Scrimbia and a plate of gold engraved for worship. There are also amphorae, vases and architectural fragments.

The museum was inaugurated in 2004, and presents a great collection of sacred works of art, of great historical and cultural importance. The exhibition dates back to 1999 and was established with the initiative of Benito Badolato. Inside the rooms there are collections of great cultural and ethnic importance of the area and presents a journey into the history of the old crafts of Calabria, some now missing: umbrella, blacksmith , stagnaro, shoemaker, and numerous important professions of the past. The material is chronologically arranged, and the museum is open to the public.

Oggetti di Civiltà Contadina

Homemade objects are kept in the museum of peasant civilization, including copper pots, water jugs, coffee grinding tools and charcoal irons. The exhibition was arranged in chronological order, starting from 1850 until reaching 1950. In addition, photographs of 1890 with several very rare identity cards are displayed inside it, to mention the first identity card issued in 1902, when Nardodipace became Municipality.

Piccolo Museo di San Paolo

The Small Museum of San Paolo preserves the collection of works collected over sixty years by Monsignor Francesco Gangemi. The art gallery consists of about one hundred works and canvases dating back to the fifteenth and twentieth centuries. Among these are the canvas by Antonello da Messina “San Michele” and the “Madonna with Child” by Cima da Conegliano. Among the sacred objects are the works of the Messina goldsmith Filippo Juvara and there is also a sculptural room with materials of medieval origin.

The Musical Instrument Museum is located in an exhibition space of more than two hundred square meters. Since 1996, it has been welcoming musical instruments that belong to the traditional folk and ethnic music culture coming from all over the world. The exhibition shows about eight hundred instruments that are catalogued according to the Hornbostel-Sachs system and that belong to different families.

The Paleomarino Museum was initially established as a cultural and scientific association, over the years it is enriched with scientific and paleontological collections collected by the biologist and physician Angelo Vazzana. Agorà dell'Arte is a museum established in 1987 by Bruno Caristo. The intention was to offer a space for the artwork of emerging artists. The Museum was created as a collaboration between the Municipality of Acri and the state middle school 'V.Padula', in order to rediscover the ancient crafts. The Civic Archaeological Museum of Castrovillari was built in 1957 and is located in the premises of the Convent of the Friars Minor. The Art Gallery is located inside the Civic Museum in the Aragonese Castle (840 AD) in the municipality of Crotone. It is one of the most important in the area. Currently it houses Neapolitan works of art from the second half of the nineteenth century. and a hundred paintings from the first half of 1900. All the decor of the environment is very nice in a combination with the architecture of the past centuries. Admission to the art gallery is free of charge.

The Provincial Museum of Contemporary Art initially built in the rooms of the Palazzo Fonte Calojro in Crotone since 2008 is located in Palazzo Barracco. It offers a rich collection and presents the experiments carried out, informing what are the new languages of art involving painting and photography.

The Civic Archaeological Museum of Cirò Marina was established in 1998 and is located on two floors inside the Palazzo Porti. It welcomes materials from the local Archeoclub and objects of the excavations of the Superintendence for Archaeological Heritage of Calabria. On the ground floor there are objects in ceramics and metals from the archaic and classical times.

The National Archaeological Museum was opened in 1968 and is located in the medieval walled city. At first it exhibited materials from unofficial excavations, then it was enriched by the finds found in the excavations carried out in the necropolis of the territory. The Museum represents different eras through the materials on display, especially the Prehistoric, Iron and Bronze. Note the documentation of the Greek era with many exhibits such as ointments and ceramic fragments.
