The collection is arranged within the sixteenth-century Palazzo Nuovo, and contains more than 730,000 pieces of documents, volumes, photos, prints and numerous written testimonies of the cultural life of the city. Over the years, the structure was expanded with new materials, thanks to the continuous donations and purchases of the library itself. Today, the library is the primary institution for the collection and preservation of Bergamo's book heritage.
