Campo San Polo
It is the largest square in Venice, second in size only in Piazza San Marco. Initially, it was intended for cultivation and pasture. Later it was paved and became the center of numerous markets to such an important point that those of the poor in Piazza San Marco moved there. Slowly Campo San Polo became the center of the city's festivals and events, however numerous, that they were so annoying. So they were banned from 1611.
