Fontego dei Turchi
It overlooks the Grand Canal and is located in the Santa Croce district. It was built around the 13th century by order of Giacomo Palmieri, although then the property passed first to the Republic of Venice and then to private individuals. It is a large two-story building and after an incorrect restoration it lost much of its beauty. It served for a long time as an emporium of the Turks, but today it belongs to the municipality and houses the Civic Museum of Natural History of Venice.
