Ottagono Poveglia
It is one of the islands of the Venice Lagoon, located along the Orphan Canal. It's a pretty big island and probably takes its name from the poplars that fill it. It was home to important Venetian families dedicated to salting and fishing. Later it was abandoned because of the war against the Genoese and the Church of San Vitale was destroyed. Only the bell tower remained standing, also used as a lighthouse.
