Catacombe di Pretestato

The Catacombs of Pretested are located on the left side of Via Appia in Rome. Their main nucleus is composed of a long tunnel adapted to a hypogeum tomb that is called spelunca magna. It was excavated in the 2nd century and was used below as a cemetery in the 3rd century. It is very rich in monuments and was used for the burials of characters from the Senatorium aristocracy and the imperial family.
