Palazzo del Governo
Built since the mid-1300s as the new headquarters of the city government, it is located in Piazza del Plebiscito. In 1470, the arch of the Rastello was initialized, which is also the main entrance to the courtyard. In 1484 Francesco di Giorgio Martini redesigned the whole building giving it a Renaissance look. Instead, in 1690 due to the earthquake, the frescoes by Melozzi da Forlì were destroyed by the collapses of the Council Hall, who had decorated the interior. From 1860 to today, it is the main seat of the Prefecture of Ancona.
