The building was built in 1460 by Bishop George of Hack. During 1614 and 1615, the palace was the seat of the witches, who were burned alive in front of the building. The most particular part of the structure is the judgment room where there are frescoes depicting the legend of the Queen of France. Today the building is a private home.

According to Franco Lancetti, who did the renovation of the castle, the tower had to be 15 meters high and around 6 meters in diameter. Historical testimonies show that the building also housed the chapel of St. Peter from which the castle took its name. It was abandoned at the end of the 17th century by the Thun and today we find the ruins of the castle.
