Sicily has beautiful cities that are worth a visit. Today I present to you the beautiful city of Enna, in the heart of Sicily, which in the past was an important strategic center & amp; nbsp; thanks to its high position, and that until 1926, it was known as Castrogiovanni. Here you will find an exceptional historical and cultural atmosphere. Its wonderful geographical position made it the nickname of Sicily's navel. It's the perfect place for family holidays or in good company. You can also use Enna as a base, and visit and explore its surroundings.

The city offers a lot to the tourist who visits it, and thanks to its enviable secluded position, it managed to preserve its medieval core very well. So I visit this weekend at the end of spring, this charming city located 950 meters above sea level. Thanks above all to its long millennial history, the city of Enna, has an artistic and cultural heritage of enormous importance with ancient remains dating not only to the Middle Ages but also to the period of rsquo; Arab invasion and later periods with the presence in the city also of numerous palaces in Baroque style.

The city is a reflection from the dominations: Sican, Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Arab, Norman, Swabian and Aragonese, and this reflection strikes favorably the tourist who visits it. One of the most interesting destinations is the Castello di Lombardia, an ancient medieval fortification, where you can enjoy a breathtaking view of the city.

Also of great interest are the numerous museums that display the finds of the city, a visit that I gladly make and which I highly recommend. Among the most important stands out, the Alessi Museum, which contains the treasure of the Duomo and the art gallery with some valuable works such as the Madonna with child, two tables depicting Saint John the Baptist and Saint John the Evangelist and another table depicting the mystical wedding of Saint Catherine;
the Regional Archaeological Museum inside the Palazzo Varisano, where the archaeological findings coming from the excavations of the area are exhibited.

Finally, the Passion Museum, built in a room adjacent to the church of S. Leonardo. Inside there are terracotta miniatures made by Calatini artisans.

Other interesting tourist destinations are: the Tower of Frederick II, built by the will of the emperor, has its forms inspired in the Sacred Temple of Jerusalem; the Sanctuary of Papardura, a baroque church built on an area rich in caves, really not to be missed!

Another interesting tourist spot in the city are the remains of the temple of Ceres (goddess of harvests), known as Rocca di Cerere.
