Hike to the Tita Secchi Hut

The importance of this itinerary is twofold: on the one hand it is a pleasant excursion within everyone's reach, which reaches a picturesque corner of the Valle del Caffaro, a short distance from the well-known and frequented Passo di Croce Domini; on the other, it represents the important starting point (or arrival) of the trekking “Alta Via dell'Adamello”.
To avoid excessive repetition, in the description we considered to group the three possibilities of access to the Tita Secchi Hut, a few meters away from the characteristic Lake of the Vacca. The shelter has in fact replaced the old Gabriele Rosa Hut, now used as a winter room.
All the possible itineraries listed below are very popular, well marked, untiring and almost unmistakable.
Itinerary 1: from the Gaver. Once you reach the Gaver esplanade near the Nikolajewka Hut, in the upper Valle del Caffaro (altitude 1505 meters), we walk past the alpine church, and then touch Malga Laione di Sotto (1602 meters). Continuing on the always unmistakable track, you will finally reach the Tita Secchi Hut, at 2367 meters above sea level (2.15 hours from the start). The return takes place along the same path as the climb, and takes 1.30 hours.
Itinerary 2: from Malga Cadino This itinerary takes its move from Malga Cadino (altitude 1799 meters) along the road from Valle del Caffaro climbs to Passo di Croce Domini. We then walk north, first along a small road that later turns into a path, until you easily reach the Passo della Vacca (2355 meters). From the pass, in a few minutes you reach the Tita Secchi Hut, at 2367 meters above sea level (2 hours from the start). The return takes place along the same path as the climb, and takes 1.15 hours.
Itinerary 3: from the Tassara Hut in Bazena. This itinerary also starts near the Croce Domini Pass, but on the slope of Val Camonica, in particular from the Tassara Hut in Bazena, at an altitude of 1802 meters. Also in this case we walk north, reaching the Passo di Val Fredda (2338 meters). A long and restful crossing along the opposite side leads subsequently to the Passo della Vacca (2355 meters) and finally to the not far Tita Secchi Hut, at 2367 meters above sea level (2 hours) 1.5 from the start). The return takes place along the same path as the climb, and takes 1.30 hours.

Excursion to Monte Re di Castello from Passo di Campo

Excursion among the most recommended in the area, with a purely mountaineering “flavor”, which reaches a peak of considerable height, from which you can enjoy a panorama called “exceptional”, on horseback between Lombardy and Trentino.

During the Great War, the top of Monte Re di Castello was manned by Italian troops, who even carried a cannon and a sliding projector on it. tracks. Even today, some remains of such works are visible that, at the time, had to look really impressive. In particular, we notice the foundations of a large 'shack', which was still preserved almost intact in the 1960s.
The Passo di Campo, from which the excursion begins, is easily reached both from the Trentino side passing through Lake Malga Bissina in Val di Daone, who from Val Camonica, in Lombardy (locality La Rasega in Val di Saviore).

Given the characteristics of the route, it is necessary to equip yourself with ice axe and crampons.
From the Passo di Campo (2288 meters altitude), keeping on the western side, follow the old military mule track (sometimes reduced to a small path) heading south, at the foot of the rocky Sega d'Arno (also almost entirely manned during the Great War). After a short descent, the journey continues flat in the same direction, neglecting some branches that rise to the left towards the ridge.
Later the path begins to climb, and then bend to the right (southwest) at an obvious moraine: at this point, however, it is necessary to leave the path, to continue instead in the direction south, still parallel to the Sega d'Arno.

Subsequently, depending on the season, the climb continues on the snowy slope of the slightly inclined Vedretta di Saviore, which unfortunately in the late summer almost risks disappearing.
Regularly you reach the saddle between the top and the front, from which finally, to the left, on the rocky summit you reach Monte Re di Castello, an altitude of 2891 meters, 2.30 hours from Passo di Campo.
The return takes place along the same path as the climb and takes 1.30 hours.

Excursion from the CAI Lissone Hut to the Prudenzini Hut

Substantially simple stage, characterized by the long climb to the Passo di Poia, and the next equally steep descent towards the Prudenzini Hut.
You can thus appreciate the typical glacial morphology of the Adamè Valley and the Salarno Valley, with the views that are increasingly being made great, now being very close to the heart of the frozen Adamello massif.
Given the considerable altitude reached, there will often be snow even in the very late season. From the CAI Lissone Hut (2017 meters) follow the comfortable path that, flat or slightly uphill, runs along the bottom of the wide Adamè Valley (right) hydrographic).
After passing Malga Adamè (2022 meters) and the Casine di Mezzo (2107 meters) we arrive at a characteristic and chaotic expanse of boulders and to a subsequent shepherd's cabin: the Cuel del Manzoler, at an altitude of 2130 meters. At this point we leave the valley floor to bend to the left, following a track that goes up the right hydrographic side of the valley, a short distance from a stream, until it emerges on the flat “ coster right” of the valley.
Now pointing towards the Northern Peak of Frampola, you will soon enter the valley that, unmistakably, leads to the Passo di Poia, at 2775 meters of altitude, from which you can enjoy a spectacular view towards the great head of the Valle di Salarno and towards the Adamello.
From the pass we descend almost straight along the opposite side, up to the “coaster on the left” of the Valle di Salarno. Then take a valley that leads with a regular descent to the bottom of the valley, a short distance from the Prudenzini Hut, which is soon reached by crossing the stream on a bridge: altitude 2225 meters, 4.45 am from the CAI Lissone Hut.

Excursion to Passo di Campo da La Rasega in Val di Saviore

Passo di Campo da La Rasega

The excursion to reach the Passo di Campo, is rather long but easy, and takes place entirely on an excellent mule track, which represents the indispensable approach for the climb to peaks of Monte Re di Castello and Monte Campellio, two prestigious peaks reserved for experienced hikers.
Even stopping at the pace, the trip is however very advisable for the vast and suggestive visible views, with the along Lake Arno in the foreground: it is the first artificial basin of the Adamello group, built in the very early 1900s and containing 36.6 million cubic meters of water.

At the Passo di Campo, very popular even in the past centuries for commercial purposes, there are also significant remains of the military works carried out by Italian troops during the course of World War I.
From the town of Cedegolo in Val Camonica (81 kilometers from Brescia), turn right entering the wooded Valle di Saviore, until reach the small hamlet of La Rasega (1158 meters altitude, about 13 kilometers from Cedegolo).
The excursion starts from an open space before the sports field, from which you cross the Poia di Adamè stream on a bridge, and then bend right towards the valley and immediately after to left (signs on site).

Then follow the wide mule track that, in the woods, goes up the left river slope of the valley (direction southwest). After passing Malga Campellio (1611 meters) you reach, now beyond the wooded soldier, to the marked western ridge of Monte Zucchello, which wanders with a stretch even downhill , thus entering the wide basin of Lake Arno, clearly visible beneath us.

Now begins a long crossing halfway — the so-called “Traversera” - flat or slightly uphill, which without possibility of error leads (heading east) to the narrow carving of Passo di Campo, on the border with Trentino and Val di Fumo: 2288 meters, 4 hours from the start.
The return takes place along the same path as the climb, and takes 3 hours.

Excursion to the Antonio Curò Hut from Valbondione

The Antonio Curò Hut is one of the most popular and popular hiking destinations in the entire province of Bergamo: easy without being trivial, tiring but not prohibitive, it allows everyone to approach the magical world of high mountains.

The refuge is in fact located at the entrance of the Conca del Barbellino, rich in lakes, rocky mountains, small but interesting glaciers, precious fauna and flora, peaks that touch the three thousand meters... In a word, a true paradise for the hiker, without any regrets for others and far more celebrated mountains.

The trip takes place largely on a comfortable mule track, in the upper part carved in the lively rock. From the town of Valbondione, in the upper Valle Seriana (888 meters altitude, 52 kilometers from Bergamo) you start to follow the path that goes, with a regular climb, in the thick of the woods, approaching the head of the valley, on the left-hand river side.

At the exit of the forest, always on the unmistakable track, you cross some canals (possible avalanche remains at the beginning of the season), reaching the base of the rocky jump that closes the valley, at a crossroads. Bending to the right, continue along the mule track with some long and regular hairpin bends (the so-called 'panoramic') until the final flat stretch, engraved in the rock. On the other hand, continuing straight to the fork, we face the strenuous “shortcut” which, with countless turns and a little attention, directly overcomes the rocky jump.

In both cases, we finally reach the large building of the Antonio Curò Hut: an altitude of 1915 meters, 2.30 hours following the “shortcut”, about 3 hours with the “overview”.
The return takes place along the same path as the climb and takes 1.30 hours (2 with the “overview”).
VARIANT: from Valbondione it is possible to drive to the Grumetti hamlet (where the ENEL cable car starts, limited parking possibilities, altitude 970 meters). A steep path in the woods allows you to reach the mule track of the main itinerary, saving 20 - 30 minutes.

Excursion from the Tonolini Hut to Garibaldi on the Adamello

It is the last stop of the trekking, the most spectacular, the most grandiose, the most exciting, perhaps the one that reserves the greatest satisfaction.
It's hard to find the words to describe what it's like to walk in front of the northern slope of Adamello, with its dizzying edges rocky, its tormented glaciers, its great lakes, in a scenario certainly among the most beautiful.
Given the considerable altitude reached, there will often be snow even in the very late season.
From the Tonolini Hut (2450 meters) you will go along the south-eastern shore of the nearby Lake Rotondo, then heading east, leaving the small Lago Bianco at the bottom right. Then, following the slope, turn left (north) reaching Lake Premassone (2719 meters).
A final effort, on the ground sometimes sprinkled with large boulders, allows finally to reach the Passo di Premassone, that is, the highest point of the whole trek — well 2923 meters — from which you can enjoy a view that we define great is little.
The descent on the opposite side requires a lot of attention first, although some fixed ropes are of great help: a series of hoops, a gully and therefore a steep ridge leads to the below Lake Pantano dell'Avio, at 2378 meters above sea level.
After crossing the top of the dam, follow a good track that, heading east, leads to the marked Bocchetta del Pantano, at 2650 meters of share.
Going down on the opposite side, we head towards the obvious moraine on the right of the western view of the Venerocolo, which wanders on the left, finally reaching the dam of Lake Venerocolo and the very near Rifugio Garibaldi, at 2553 meters above sea level, where the trek ends (5 hours) from the Tonolini Hut).
The return to the valley, up to the town of Temù, in the upper Val Camonica takes place along the unmistakable path of access to the Garibaldi hut.

How to reach the Giuseppe Garibaldi Hut from Malga Caldea

While for the mountaineer this trip represents the “starting point” for the next climb along the normal route to the Adamello, for the hiker the Giuseppe Garibaldi Hut & nbsp; it is a prestigious and very profitable final destination, in a great high mountain environment, in front of the northern slope of the Adamello.
Among the various reasons of interest, we mention the possibility of observing the glaciers and their imposing moraines closely, not forgetting the great hydroelectric works they have profoundly changed the face of the valley. A series of artificial reservoirs that are now an integral part of the landscape, with their pleasant notes of color.
The Giuseppe Garibaldi Hut is also the point of arrival (or departure) of the trekking “Alta Via dell'Adamello”. Passed Edolo, in the upper Val Camonica (97 kilometers from Brescia), it can be reached in about fifteen kilometers the town of Temù (1155 meters), from which you bend to the right entering the Val d'Avio, following the convenient road to Malga Caldea, at 1584 meters above sea level, where you can park. We then walk on the continuation of the road (owned by ENEL), touching in succession three artificial reservoirs (always on the western shore) in an environment undoubtedly suggestive: Avio Pond (1869 meters), Lake Avio (1907 meters, containing 17.2 million cubic meters of water) and Lake Benedict < /b > (1930 meters, with a capacity of 7.5 million cubic meters).
By now on the path, you pass a rocky jump next to a waterfall, leading to the vast plateau of Malga Lavedole (2044 meters). Continuing now heading east, you face a steep and tiring mule track, known by the appropriate nickname 'Calvary. ' After touching the Church dedicated to the “Madonnina dell'Adamello”, built during the Great War, you will reach the great building of the Giuseppe Garibaldi Hut < ; /b>, a few meters from Lake Venerocolo (containing 2.5 million cubic meters of water) in a wonderful panoramic position: 2553 meters altitude, 3 hours from Malga Caldea.
The return takes place along the same path as the climb, and takes about 2 hours.
