In 1818 Pietro Monti, an industrialist of the time, transformed the ancient crowd from pannilani into a silk flyer. Used as such until 1934 then purchased by the Abegg family, they used it by twisting. In 1978, the City Council bought the building after a period of degradation. After the restoration, the ancient twisting machine of 1818 was also used. In 1998, the Setificio Monti Civic Museum was inaugurated.
