Rieti, a city of culture and tradition

It tells the legend that the ancient Reate, was founded by the goddess Rea, but the origin of the city of Sabini is lost in the mists of time. The Gens Flavia, from which the principal comes from Tito Flavio Vespasiano, Roman emperor and creator of the Colosseum in Rome (finished only in the government of his son), is one of the nobles Sabine families who gave luster to the city of Rome.
Today, Rieti, is the capital of the homonymous province of the Lazio region, and here you will find history, tradition, culture, legend, and a beautiful landscape.
The city, located at an altitude of 405 meters, has a continental climate, with really hot summers and winters with nights of strict cold weather. Some typical products to taste are Fregnacce alla Reatina (a pastry filled with tomato, onions, salt and chili pepper) and the Pizzicotti (a pasta similar to that of bread served with a spicy sauce).
I recommend a visit to the Monument to the Lira, to the Church of San Domenico (inside is the remarkable organ of Dom Bedos), the City Walls (a part of an ancient wall) medieval that surrounded the city) and the Roman Bridge (its ruins on the Velino River).
