I've always liked the story. I don't know if it's the innate passion or I owe it to my high school professor, however every time when I see a piece of history locked in walls, bricks or another human work I become euphoric. And let alone when I'm in front of the whole city...

So one day, taking advantage of the fact that my language school was in the Marche region, I set up my bike and went to Urbino.

You'll love Urbino at first sight, still from afar. The city is located on a hill and dominates the area from above. Its outline, the walls and the main buildings, are seen from afar, a few kilometers before entering the city. The atmosphere that you breathe inside the walls is a bit strange.

On the one hand, history and art visible at every step and corner, in every square, street and church, on the other hand there is a movement of young people who attend the University of Urbino.

Start your visit from the Doge's Palace, symbol of the 15th century Urbino, where today you will find the Archaeological Museum, the Museum of Ceramics and the Gallery National team of the Marche.

The latter is a sort of Urbino Louvre. Inside you will find the collection of works of art by artists that you have certainly heard of: Titian, Raphael and Piero della Francesca.

Immediately next to the Doge's Palace you will find the Duomo that houses the Albani Museum, which collects numerous art objects from the city churches. Another building that you cannot miss during your wandering is the University Palace, around which the modern life of the city revolves. Also worth seeing is the house of Raphael..

Following the itineraries keep your eyes open, because the streets and alleys of Urbino hide the very beautiful views. Sometimes it's enough to browse through the courtyard of the palaces to discover a suggestive detail. To tell the truth, Urbino and its surroundings offer many tourist ideas and therefore I recommend that you come here for several days.
