Diano Castello is an ancient village, built in the Middle Ages on the heights of the mountain that divides the valley of San Pietro from the Varcavello valley. The history of Diano Castello starts in the pre-Roman era, when the inhabitants of the plain, in an attempt to escape the attacks of the Saracens and Barbarians, took refuge here, forming the first ancient nucleus of this village perched among the rocks.

An agglomeration of houses and 'carugi' that create an evocative maze among ancient cellars, art shops and crafts.
