Archaeological Sites Himera - Tempio della Vittoria The Temple of Victory was located in the ancient city of Himera. The building was built in 480 BC after the epic battle between the Greeks of Sicily and the Carthaginians. During the siege of 409 BC the latter destroyed and set fire the Temple, of which today only a few remains remain. The city plan included the construction of several shrines including the Temenos of Athena, located in the northeastern part of the city. The archaeological area includes the urban area defended by the city walls and the necropolis located along the exit paths.
