On a touristic point of view Sanremo has always been reputed for its mild climate with just a few rains even in the winter season. The idea to build the course, in an already well renowned area, came to the municipal authorities of Sanremo in 1932, with the goal to promote tourism and offer golfers an additional reason to spend their winter holidays in the sunny climate of the Riviera. Though not particularly long, the course is somewhat tricky, with narrow, complex holes where precision rather than power is needed.
