
There are two events very suggestive that renew the relationship with the sea and Genoa: the
Palio Marinaro Genovese di S. Pietro and the Historical race of the Ancient Maritime Republics.
The Palio is a traditional boat race between the neighborhoods commemorates each year in June and reppresent the battle between the fishing boats to prioritize the sale of fish in the past.
The Historic Regata of Ancient Maritime Republics instead is a more prestigious event and includes a procession of about 300 listed that included again, the battles between naval vessels of the four historic maritime republics of
Genoa, Venice, Amalfi and Pisa. This latest event is organized by rotation in one of 4 cities.
For those that in Genoa would like to feel the sea it is possible along the Walk of
Anita Garibaldi 2 km along the sea from the mouth of the Nervi to reach the ancient Port of Capolungo. Or reching by boat the seaside towns of the area as enchanting Portofino and
Baia di San Fruttuoso.
