An ancient, little fishing village, Donnalucata, which is in Scicli, has surprisingly a number of special attractions for local and foreign tourists alike especially from March to November. One great attraction is undoubtedly its lovely, fine golden sandy beach.
Swim in the clear turquoise waters of the Ionian Sea or gaze at its lovely waters while lying comfortably on the beach. If your interest is surfing or wind surfing, then travel a bit further to Palo Bianca, Spinasanta or Palo Rosso. These three sandy beaches are deemed to have a wilder environment, making them more suitable for the aforementioned activities.
Those who adore birds or natural flora should visit the Irminio River Nature Reserve, which is near the fishing village. You can bathe in this tiny reserve or appreciate its natural Mediterranean flora and rare animal species. Bird lovers have a chance to watch and take photographs of the antics of migratory birds. Donnalucata being a fishing village, has a beautiful fishing port, which has colourful little fishing boats and a daily fish market. Stroll through the fish market to buy some fresh fish or learn about the various species of fish.
