Ancona - Archaeological Sites Arco di Traiano The Arch of Trajan in Ancona represents one of the most precious monumental testimonies of the Roman Marche. The monument, dates back to 100 or 116 AD, is in excellent state of preservation. The gates that once overlooked it were removed.
Fermo - Archaeological Sites Cisterne Romane Dating back to the first Century AD, they were used to supply the Roman colony with water: inside you can appreciate the techniques of massive concrete walls, traces of plaster and waterproof venting wells for water purification.
Urbisaglia - Archaeological Sites Urbs Salvia Urbs Salvia is the largest archaeological park in the Marche region. The city was born in the 2nd century AD, while the most substantial part of the monuments was built in the Flavia age. After the destruction of the city in 408-409 AD by Alarico, the inhabitants took refuge on the Hill of San Biagio, giving rise to the first nucleus of Urbisaglia located in the Castro of Orbesallia.
Osimo - Archaeological Sites Grotte Templari Osimane (ingresso) An underground city with tunnels excavated by hand, with effort, in the sandstone. Charm and mystery in these caves where the reason for this construction is still unknown.
Ancona - Archaeological Sites Anfiteatro Romano (I sec) The Roman Amphitheater of Ancona was erected between the end of the first century BC and the beginning of the second century AD. The amphitheater could accommodate from 7,000 to 10000 spectators. Later it was no longer used as a performance building, but rather assumed the role of a fortress. Currently the appearance of the Amphitheater is that of an ongoing construction site due to the historical and urban layering of the area, with the overlapping of buildings such as the Church of San Gregorio and the Convent of San Bartolomeo.
Corinaldo - Archaeological Sites Zona archeologica S.Maria in Portuno The archaeological site Santa Maria in Portuno was discovered in 2001 by the Department of Archaeology of the University of Bologna. The existence of a pre-existing place of worship from the Middle Ages has been confirmed. Whole environments such as a crypt and a small furnace have been found.
Cupra Marittima - Archaeological Sites Parco Archeologico The Archaeological Park of Cupra Marittima was founded in 1999, with the aim of protecting and enhancing the area of the ancient Roman city. The finds found are on display on the first floor of Palazzo Cipolletti. The exhibition was completed and opened to the public in December 2001.
