HOLIDAY IN COMACCHIO, ITALY AND TAKE TIME OUT TO VISIT VENICE

written by Redazione Visit Italy

Ostuni città bianca

Comacchio is a popular international tourist destination, situated close to the Port of Garibaldi in Ferrara province.

Nearby places to visit include Bologna, Modena and Parma. The city of Ferrara is well worth visiting, with its range of historic buildings and palaces dating back to the Middle Ages.

The wonderful city of Venice is also within an easy distance of Comacchio, so holidaymakers wanting to explore this area of Italy have a wealth of nearby locations to visit. Comacchio is a modern resort, although traces of its fishing village heritage remain. It's surrounded by the peaceful Volano pine forests and is part of the Po Delta Park.

Active holidaymakers can enjoy riding the native Camargue Delta horses and cycling along miles of paths and cycleways in the area. There are seven fabulous Lidos situated along this expanse of miles of sandy beaches and each one has its own individuality.

The closest Lido to Comacchio is Lido di Volano, about 20km from the town.

The Comacchio beaches are within easy walking distance of the town centre and local ferries offer day tours, for holidaymakers seeking a day out in the vicinity. Other local activities include 4WF tours and off roading, fishing and boat charters, and nature tours.

Some of the popular historic features of the town include the Basilica San Cassiano and the Clock Tower.

Eating out in the area is an easy matter as there are a variety of restaurants and bars serving a range of foods, to suit any dietary requirements.
