Friuli Venezia Giulia is one of the twenty regions that make up Italy.
Despite the fact that there are more than one million inhabitants, it's not extremely popular between tourists which makes it the ideal destination if you want all the beauty Italy and its beaches has to offer but without the tons and tons of tourists that fill them.
One of the quietest beaches in the whole region is Bagni di Panzano. There are some mountains right at the back of the beach, which gives it a very raw feel. Bagni di Panzano is pretty much unspoilt, thanks to the fact there are not many hotels around and the fact it's not very visited. It's a free beach and you will find a couple of good restaurants very close to it, apart from a parking. This is the perfect beach if you are looking for a relaxing place or if you are bringing children with you.
If you are traveling in a camper, the Belvedere Pineta could be your ideal place. This nice beach is exclusive to the clients of the camping which is called just like the beach. This means the beach tends to get full of tourists, but that isn't a bad thing if you want to meet new people or if you are traveling with children and you want to give them the chance of meeting and playing with other children.
But if you are looking for some fun on the beach rather than relaxing, go to Grado. There, you will get the chance to play beach volley as well as hire the equipment needed to practice windsurf. Also, right on the beach there are some boats and kayaks which you can rent to explore a bit around. This is a free beach, and that might be one of the reasons why it does tend to get filled with people who live in the area.
Grignano is another beach recommended. This beach is, for some odd reason, divided in two halves. Half of it is filled by youngsters from the area who go there to have fun while, the other half, is filled with families with children. Also, the water in this beach isn't too deep, which makes it the ideal place for your children to play in the water without you having to worry too much.
And if you are a fan of scuba diving, you must absolutely not miss Sistiana beach. The bottom of the sea in this beach is rich in marine flora and fauna and the water is extremely transparent, so you will have a great time there. And don't worry if you don't have the equipment needed to practice scuba diving because you will be able to rent it right on the beach.
