The Rifugio Passo del Vivione is situated high in the Italian Alps in the north of Lombardy, close to the city of Bergamo. At an altitude of 1,828m on the Vivione Pass, this isn't a hotel for casual winter visits, but in the springtime when the snow thaws it becomes a mecca for bikers who love the invigorating twisting roads high in the spectacular alpine scenery.
The hotel can provide shelter for bikes as well as bikers, and of course anyone else who wishes to stay amid the stunning backdrops. There are 20 beds in rooms of 2, 3 or 4 beds each, with a full linen service. Breakfast and light snacks are available daily in the Refuge's bar, while in the evenings the restaurant offers the best in local produce from mountain cheeses to delicious desserts, all on the open air terrace (weather permitting).
The hotel is popular with walkers as well as bikers, located as it is close to the unspoiled Orobie Park which has trails suitable for all the family, winding through pristine environments full of flowers, lakes, alpine meadows and local fauna. A particularly breathtaking sight arrives in late June when the flowering rhododendrons colour the whole mountain view.
