TORRE DELLE ORE - THE TOWER CLOCK

It 's the tallest tower of Lucca's medieval architecture has belonged to various families over the years including the Quartigiani and number, then passing the property to the municipality.

The clock was installed at the top in 1392 by a Lucchese craftsman, still open to the manual winding mechanism; then, in 1754 a clock face with the most modern technology was installed.
The mechanism was installed by the Geneva watchmaker Louis Simon while the bells were made by the Lucchese Stefano Filippi.

Each hour is marked by the largest bell in the quarter while the smaller ones. You can get on top of it to see that the clock mechanism and an overview of lucca 360 °. So, climb the 207 wooden steps!!!
