Pigna, village

The ancient medieval village in the long possession of Savoy, has a concentric structure with sections of streets covered (the chibi, dark) around Piazza Castello, where the houses are decorated with carved slate portals. ?
Next to the Loggia of Piazza Vecchia, the church of St. Michael with a high pointed belltower has a magnificent rose window on the facade of 1450 with contemporary glass and inside the polyptych to 38 magazines Canavesio John (1500). The same artist painted frescoes in 1482, the cemetery church of St. Bernard with a cycle on the Life of Jesus and the Last Judgment.  

Among other interesting places to see we advice the Museum of Country Life, collecting evidence and tools of the shepherds and the life of yesterday.  

Nearby, the sulphurous waters of the modern spa "Terme di Pigna Antiche" are used for their numerous properties both for therapeutic and aesthetic.    

Typical products of the town are the excellent extra virgin olive oil; the mushrooms and the ravioli tasted in the restaurants in the country and at festivals autumn; the famous and renowned Fagioli Bianchi di Pigna, Slow-food and waiting to receive the coveted PGI Certification.  

Among the cultural activities, put in your agenda the Festival of Poetry and Comedy Intemelia (July) ancd chech local websites regularly for Traditional festivals and celebrations of the country that enliven summer evenings and autumn.
